Has the Recently Approved Article List Changed?

Hi all. I have a question about the list of new articles on the "Home" section of CC. I signed up as an author in January of 2007, wrote and sold a few articles, then my life kind of imploded, so I haven't written since then. I'm beginning to get geared up to get back to writing on here. I have checked in every few months and still get the request emails. I was surprised to see the new look (I love it!) and how some things have changed. My question is about the scrolling list of newly approved articles. I've been checking in daily for the past week, and one of the places I go is "Home" to see the list of new articles. It appears to me that the list hasn't changed much. It was always a good place to see how many articles were newly approved for a new request. Is that the right place to check on new articles? I can't believe that only a handful of articles have been approved over the past 5 days or so. I know Ed is way more productive than that! :) (It is also wonderful to see that Ed is still here....) I'm very excited to get some more articles written/approved/posted and SOLD! Thanks!

I was also wondering the same thing. I think the cross stitch article has been on the front page for the last week or so! I used to like checking the home page to see what articles writers were submitting. I can't help thinking that while this new site looks great, the way it works isn't as "transparent" as the old one. I also used to like checking to see which authors were writing to which requests which can't be done now, as well as how writers were getting on with private requests. Maybe it's just me, but with this new site it sometimes feels that everything's happening behind the scenes we're not getting to see as much as we used to and therefore not feeling as "involved" as we did. But then why do I need to know which writers are writing to which requests, or which writers are securing private jobs? I don't. I just liked the fact that I could know!

Thanks.

Jane

Constant and Ed will correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think that articles submitted for requests don't appear on the main page like new submissions do. Basically, if there are a hundred articles submitted for public and private requests and only five others, only those five will appear on the main page.

I know that they're still tweaking the code for the "new" look, so it may need to be changed a little. In all honesty though, I doubt established customers look at the main page much. I imagine they'll work on some type of "alternating" front page to attract new customers in the future.

Customers see a different page or recently added articles than we see. The last time I looked, their home page listed recently added submissions (though not those submitted for private requests or the first three days of public requests) in the most recently added order. The newest article appeared at the top of the list.

Our view is categorized so we see the most recent "Arts and Culture" article at the top of our list. If no one submits a new "Arts and Culture" article for several days, then we'll keep seeing the same one until a new one arrives. However, as you scroll down through the categories throughout the day, you'll see new additions for the more popular categories. I'd prefer a non-categorized view myself, but I don't mind scrolling either.

Thanks Barry and Celeste for your answers :) As I said, I was here in 2007, but only on since then intermittently. I always checked on the recently approved articles to see what authors were writing, and to see how many articles had been approved for a public request, mostly out of curiosity. I have only read on some of the forums about the three day time frame for articles written for a request, I tried to find something about it specifically, but haven't been able to. I think I understand it though, and thought that may be why I wasn't seeing anything on the home page for a public request. Unfortunately, it was after I posted this question.

I didn't even think about the list being catagorized, that helps.

Thanks!

Yeah, I miss not being able to see the articles that are targeted at a public request. I used to look at that before writing. If a request had dozens of articles submitted, I'd skip it and move on to one that everyone else was ignoring.

Yeah, me too. It's hard to know now which request to write for. I work a full time job, so I can't always write 'right now'. Too bad there wasn't a way to show them but have them only available for the requester to buy, I soppose that would be hard to do.
