Almost ready to give up ...

Hi,

I'm new here and almost ready to give up on this site. I've submitted several articles to CC and all but 1 has been rejected. I will admit that my first couple of goes were because I didn't follow the single-spaced, Arial or Times formatting, but I realised this and started downloading them in the right document type, the right singl-spacing and the right font. However, they have all been rejected because "Submission does not follow our formatting guidelines".

I am now pulling my hair out with this site. I don't want to give up but this is driving me nuts. Is there anyone who can help me with this? i would be very grateful.... thanks.

Lysianassa.

Are the documents in the .doc format (not .docx which is Word 2007's default)?
Are the articles free of hyperlinks?
Are the articles in 2nd or 3rd person POV?
Do the articles have a clear introduction and conclusion with a well constructed body?
Is the short summary an original paragraph that describes the article?

Those are a few common guideline issues that pop into my mind. There are more of course...

Your rejection notifications have stated repeatedly that spaces must appear between paragraphs in the document itself and the content details. Articles that have not been submitted according to this guideline cannot be considered.

Thanks,
Ed

You can change paragraph spacing in Word. For example, Word 2007 annoyingly puts in fake spacing. It looks okay in the Word document, but when copied and pasted, the spacing goes away. Click the little icon next to the Paragraph section (in the HOme tab) and the paragraph dialog box appears. Make sure that both Before and After have "0 pt" entered. This will force you to hit the Enter key twice in order to get the extra space between paragraphs.

If you have an earlier version of Word, there's a way to do the same thing. Just don't know it off the top of my head. Look in the Word Help file for "paragraph settings" or something similar.

Don't give up just yet...

I've been here a while, and I've been getting rejections lately. Of course, it's my own fault. My life has been hectic because of a recent move, and it's showing in my writing. My most recent rejection was because I asked a question in the opening paragraph, and then didn't really answer it in the rest of the article.
