Hi

Just want to clarify a few things:

1. Should the article uploaded to CC include the article title on the page?

2. If submitting previously published articles, does it suffice to note this is so along with pen name at the foot of the article?

3. Is it true that your account is terminated after 3 rejections?

4. Can you put an average time o how long until articles are approved?

Hi JC - here are some answers from the head of another author.

1. I always include the title at the top of submitted articles, followed by the byline or pen name I wish to appear with it, ie :

You need to do this because if the byline is not there, any customer buying usage or unique rights has no excuse for changing the title, or perhaps more important, for not including your byline.

2. You don't need to mention anywhere that something has been previously published, but of course you can only offer it here for usage rights. If you want to say where else it has appeared, just do so as part of your short summary on the site. I've seen that done before.

3. The strike after three rejections is up to the powers that be, and occurs if it is obvious that an author is not up to par in English, or where inadequate revisions are made after a rejection. Many authors find the review/rejection process helpful in that it makes them think really hard about grammar, sentence structure and clarity. I suspect that Ed is grateful to those who do this before their first submissions though, to make his life easier. Still we understand that no-one is perfect and we all make mistakes sometimes. Just make sure you read the submission guidelines, especially on formatting. Anything not correctly formatted is likely to be rejected without being read. Always try to work out why something has been rejected yourself, so you can put it right. But if you're really stuck. put a question in the forum. You'll learn a lot by just reading through the forums as well.

4. The time before approval or not varies greatly as it depends on the volume of submissions and whether they are in response to requests. The latter are given priority while others have to go to the back of the queue. I've had articles accepted in a matter of hours or days, but never longer than a week.

I would recommend you send your query again as a new thread, as the position it appears in is at the end of a very old post by another writer so it might not get seen by those who need to see it.

Just an observation though on your post....the title itself (as you've written it) doesn't seem very clear, so that may not have helped the article?

Employees' effects? Not sure what's meant by that.

and ...Effects 'with'?

These don't seem to follow on appropriately.
