UK English or US English

Hi all.

I'm brand new here, and about to submit my first article.
A little intimidating, as I've only ever written for fun in the past...

Just wondering, as a Brit, I always auomatically write UK English - organise, not organize, and colour, rather than color for example.

Will that have an effect on how well my articles sell? Should I write in US English?

Are there many authors here using UK English, or am I on the wrong site?

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom

Both UK and US English is fine, as long as there is consistency? I've used both - Brit by default but sometimes if the subject is obviously for an American audience, then I use American spelling and phrases? Hope that helps, and all the best.

I use both too. But I've found that US English pieces sell most.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm not actually sure of all of the rules and differences in American English.
I know the obvious differences, like colour and neighbor, and z's, not s's, but there's more to it that that isn't there?

Can anyone recommend a good online dictionary or a source to make sure I'm getting my 'American' right?

Much more to it. I didn't find a terrific resource online for spelling, but this might help to get you started:

This site has word differences(truck/lorry) - which I think might prove just as helpful in making an article "sound" American:

Good luck!
