I am still relatively new to CC. I have looked at the forums and have found answers to many of my questions. However, I have an issue that's niggling away.

I read the public request, 'Things To Look For In A UK Solicitor'. I then prepared and submitted an article for this request on the 10th of November. I've still not had it reviewed. I understand that it can take up to two weeks to have an article reviewed. However, my concern is that the expiry time for this request is listed as 25th of November. This is 2 days away (in my time-zone). I'm wondering what all of this means.
1. Is it possible that the customer has already bought an article and, hence, my article is no longer needed?
2. If it is no longer needed, how would I know this?
3. Would it be wiser to pull that article and submit a piece for another request?
4. Does it always take at least two weeks for an article to be reviewed?

I can't answer all of your questions, especially about the review time, but I might be able to reassure you about your current article. Even if the customer has already purchased articles for the request, the customer can still purchase more articles. Also, other customers may want the article. I've personally sold several articles that I originally wrote for public requests to different customers later down the track. It may take a bit longer, especially as this request is for a specialised topic, but it is likely a customer will purchase it, even if you miss this customer. The customer can extend the time for the request if needed. I suggest you keep the article on the site.

By all means, submit a piece for a different request too. In fact, I strongly suggest that you write an original article on a topic you think will sell without waiting for a request. The article may take a little while to get through the review system, but there can be less competition. Many customers here search for articles on the topics they want and only make a request if no available articles meet their needs. I sell more articles that were not written for requests than those for requests. You can submit up to three articles in review at first, so don't be afraid to submit to other requests or general articles at the same time. Just make sure all your submissions meet the guidelines and you won't have any problems. See the recently sold and recently searched sections to see what customers are buying and searching for. You will notice that there are many articles on the recently sold list that do not match current public requests.

It doesn't always take two weeks for articles to be reviewed, but our faithful Ed is bit swamped at the moment, so it is taking a while. Patience is definitely a virtue on CC! Meanwhile, write a couple of other articles and see how you go. Once you have several articles approved, you can submit more articles at once to the review queue, so it does get better. It might still take a couple of weeks to get articles approved, but you can queue more articles, so you can keep writing while you wait. It takes a little while to get established on CC, but it is certainly worth the wait.
