Microsoft Works Word Processor

Does anyone know:

Can files that have been created using the Works Word Processor and saved as rtf be used for submitting articles?

I've been copying them to wordpad before submitting and thought I would just ask.

I'd like to include diagrams with a few of my newest article ideas.

Has anyone previously used Works for submitting articles? Or for that matter, have any tips to adding diagrams in articles?

I think that CC will accept any Word doc.

But I wonder -- does anybody know what clients prefer?

I ask because I'm new here. I've been using Wordpad and
submitting plain ASCII files because I'm assuming that
all our articles are for websites.

And for my own sites, I write in Wordpad and then use a program to
add the HTML tags.

When clients want HTML, I know some writers still write in Word
but then convert that file to HTML, but the code Word generates
is now deprecated HTML. Maybe clients are using it -- but
they shouldn't :) They should be using Cascading Style Sheets.

I'd think clients would prefer straight ASCII or at most files with just
paragraph <p> tags, because marking up text, etc is job of their
web designers. Content should be as divorced from presentation as
possible.

Any of the old pros or CC know direct from clients what they prefer?
