This has probably been answered, but the search feature gave not clues...
So...
Am I allowed to include special characters in my articles? Such as ligatures, umlauts etc? Æthelflæda - that sort of thing

Re: Special characters
You can check this out but I didn't see anything about special characters: http://www.constant-content.com/about/e ... elines.htm
Have you tried searching the forum?
My opnion (which isn't official at all) is that CC wouldn't want special characters since it may not show up properly for the customer. I don't believe Microsoft Word recognizes special characters right off the bat -- don't you have to program it a bit? Again, just my personal take.

Re: Special characters
Some subjects could never be written about if only the standard ASCII is used...
Just hold down the ALY key on your keyboard and press the relevant code. ALT+0218, for example, will give you Ú. Extended ASCII/special character tables can be found online if you wish to look the codes up. Not really programming. That's a bit harder

Re: Special characters
No response? No one has ever written an article that references foreign or etymological words? Language and history articles are going to be limited if special characters are not possible.
I did search the forum. I found nothing. I do not trust forum searches very much though (a search on "umlaut" brought no results despite the word being in the OP )
Anyone?

Re: Special characters
Still cannot find anything on the matter, though I did find some posts saying that the sample text does not display special characters but that these are preserved in the word document, which is at least a tacit clue that CC accepts such characters. They will be in TNR and 12-point do do match the rules.
I guess I'll find out for sure when I submit

Re: Special characters
Sorry no-one could help with this. It's something we all ought to know about, so please let us know what happens re your submission. And good luck.

Re: Special characters
I can't remember for sure, but I think I've used special characters here before without a problem. The Spanish ~n character comes to mind.
