How long does it take for an article to be approved?

Hello One And All,
I'm a Newbie, and I don't even have any articles approved yet. I submitted my first article on 12/09/2010 an the status is still 'review'. Is it because this is my first article that it is taking so long, or is this the average review time, or will it take even longer?
Thanks for the help,
Bob Gatto

This is not unusual, Bob. Review times vary between a few hours and a few days. It depends on the length of the review queue and how many of them are for private or public requests, which always get priority. Welcome to CC. I'm sure you won't regret joining us.

New authors
may also be reviewed after established authors. At least that is how I would do it. Gotta check over the unknown author's work more carefully than the author who has submitted 50 flawless articles already.

Yes, I noticed that my articles started being reviewed more quickly after the first few. Good luck!

Right now article review seems to be taking between 2.5 and 3 non-holiday weekdays for me, but it has varied over time. Whether my article is for a public request or just open market doesn't seem to make a difference.
