Tutorial Categories

I have a question regarding the categories for tutorials. Are the tutorials only for computers and technical subjects? The reason that I ask this is because a while back there was a public request for jewelry tutorials. All of these are being put in the jewelry articles category because there isn't an appropriate category under tutorials.

Perhaps a definition of a tutorial is in order? My definition is a step-by-step with either illustrations, photos or screen captures. What is CC's policy on this? If I write another jewelry tutorial can I put it in the tutorial category instead of the articles?

Personally, I'd leave all jewelry articles in jewelry - that's where people who are looking for articles on that subject are going to look.

Article vs. Tutorial

Thanks Ed! I infer that CC will not be strict in analyzing the category of article vs. tutorial and that I won't get rejected for using the wrong one?

We don't reject for that unless people are intentionally lazy about it. We just change it if it could be better placed.

Do tutorials have to include pictures? Some tasks could be handled using various programs, so taking a screenshot using one program might not help very much if the person doing the task is using a different program.

They don't have to include images, they could just be a list of instructions.
