Question about requests

I am a newbie here. I saw several interesting requests and I am wondering how that works. How do you know if someone else is working on a request? I don't want to spend a lot of time working on an article and then find out someone else has already written and sold it. How does this work if someone is requesting a very specific article? Do you just work on it and take your chances that you will sell yours? Or is there some way to notify the requester that you are interested in producing said article?

Thanks,

Beth

w_w -- here's a little info to help --
How do you know if someone else is working on a request?
You will not know if anyone else is working on it or not for sure.
How does this work if someone is requesting a very specific article?
You (& anyone) can reply to all public requests.
Do you just work on it and take your chances that you will sell yours?
Yes OR read below
Or is there some way to notify the requester that you are interested in producing said article?
Each request has a Q/A area that you can contact the requester with any questions you have. Most of them will reply, but some never will. You can let them know you are working on an article and ask them any questions you have. They can give you a Private Request & this is FOR YOU personally, but I still dont think they are actually "obligated" -- most Private Requests are purchased. If you check the main page you can see what the other writers are writing to see who else is responding to the same request. I hope this helps you some -- GOOD LUCK!!!
