POSTING TWO THIRDS OF ARTICLE

Hi,
I am a new member. I have been reading forum posts and guidelines and was surprised to come across the rule regarding not showing full article. I cannot understand why anyone would buy content when they cannot see the full article. Has this affected sales on the site since it was put in place? To be honest, after reading everything and realising how strict the editors are I am scared to submit anything. Also, how do you choose which two thirds of your article to display. Thanks in advance for any advice. E.

Hi Eileen,
I'm not aware of a rule requiring posting only 2/3 of an article. I post my entire article, though many other authors post only a portion. There's pros and cons of both - I believe potential customers prefer to see the entire article; on the other hand there are occasional bouts of article theft - more harmful if your entire article is up.
I see you are posting questions. It's good that you are reading the forum, asking questions. Take your time, look around. Read what is being submitted. Research the site! It is easy to find who are the top selling authors. Study what they do. This is a great site, and everyone can find their own niche. Good luck to you!

I haven't seen that rule. Actually, one of the more successful writers here recommends posting articles in their entirety, which is what I've done on my own submissions. Would you mind linking to the rule?

Hi,
Sorry, I misunderstood the guideline re. a full one third to be placed in long summary. I assume they mean at least one third of article has to be visible to buyer but you can post full article. I had read in the forums that a few years ago the possibility of not showing full articles to buyers had been considered. I think that is why I got confused, plus I can be a bit dippy! I am relieved that full article can be shown. Now I just have to work on one being accepted. Thanks for advice.

Yes you can either post just a third or the entire thing. I usually post the entire thing, but from time to time I see articles that sound a lot like mine so if the first part is unique enough I will only post a portion to protect my stuff.
Don't worry so much. Just resolve you won't be broken hearted if you get a rejection. I have had several (rejections) but I've also had lots of sales I'm happy with. If it's a bad day or I don't agree with the editors I leave it for a time when I feel like resumitting it.
