First Sales

Hello everyone.

I signed up for CC about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, I made my first (two) sales. At least I think I did (according to my inbox). One was a full rights sale for $40, and my account was correctly credited $26. I received another e-mail saying I had sold usage rights for a $20 article and that my account had been credited $13. However, I've only received credit for the first sale. Is it normal for some sales to lag in the system for a few days?

In other news, I was holding off on writing more articles for CC because I wasn't sure what the written-to-sold ratio was, but now I'm far more comfortable investing time and effort to develop a CC portfolio.

I have the same question. I got an email last thursday that i sold an article. It's not showing anywhere on my profile. I sent an email to CC on Thursday with no reply.

On the home page, look at the drop down menu under "My Account". Check "my sales" or "my content". It should be listed under my sales, or you can also see that "my content" shows that it has been sold. As to payment, I understand that occasionally there is a delay between a sale and the payment being credited to your account - which happens when CC is waiting for the client's payment to clear.
and BTW, congratulations on your sales, Ben Hoffman.

Here is the message I received in my CC inbox:

"Your work has been purchased for a Usage License

The price for the Usage License is set to $20.00, therefore we have credited your account $13.00"

When I look at the My Sales page, it does not list this article as a sale. I've also not received the $13 in my account, so I'm not sure what to make of it. I hope to receive a response in the next few days since this is the weekend.

I'm having the same issue. I received an email on Thursday (the 7th) telling me I had sold an article. At that time, the article's status changed to 'waiting', but no money had been credited to my account. I assumed it would show up, but when I logged in today, there's still no money, the article hasn't shown up in my Sales tab, and the articles status has returned to 'view'. The only evidence that the article was sold is the email in my inbox. Doesn't look good. Was there a glitch in the system? Can a buyer purchase my article and then default on the payment so that the transaction isn't finished?

Either way, it's disappointing.

Could just be the payments haven't come through yet. That is usually what the status 'waiting' means. Sometimes payments do take a while to clear. On the other hand, in the past there have been fraudulent attempts to obtain a rticles in the past, where the payments never went through. Then the articles eventually reverted to the authors' portfolios. Hope it's not that this time.

Thanks for the reply, Jak. The articles status is no longer 'waiting'. On Friday it was, but this morning, it was back to 'view' and it reappeared on my profile for sale. I have emailed CC to find out if they know what is going on with it.

Hi,

I did hear from support last night about the fraudulent sales that took place on the morning of the 12th. The email only went out to those authors whose articles were actually downloaded by the thief. Those articles are now only available for usage rights.

This is probably what happened last week as well. I hope that none of you receive those emails. If you haven't, then the thief was probably stopped before he got to yours. New measures (I don't know what they are) are supposedly in place to minimize the likelihood of fraudulent sales occurring again.

Happy writing,
WG

I don't think c.c. counts usage purchases as sales on your profile page. The usage article can be sold again, so I think they don't count them as sales until you sell the unique or fullrights. But you still get paid for the usage purchase.
