British English or American English?

I only found out about this website yesterday, and have been spending time trying to see exactly how it works, and what the requirements are. I thought it wise to try and understand how it works before I jump in.

The question I have is regarding whether CC has a preference for American English over British English. As I am sure you are aware; there are differences. This is particularly true when it comes to spelling. I am British, so obviously write in British english. Would I need to write my articles in American english in order to get them accepted by CC?

Hi Paul and welcome to CC :)

I'm also British and write in British English...CC accept either American or British, as long as the piece is consistent throughout.

That's the theory!

I just had an article rejected and the message was that I should spell "grovelling" as "groveling".

I usually write in British English and "grovelling" is correct but rejected by the editor.

Anyone else experienced similar?

John

Human editors. I' m Canadian and I recognize the suggested spelling as correct.
