I'm relatively new here, and I'm really enjoying my stay so far. Just a question: what is to prevent someone from viewing our articles and then stealing them by copying them from the page? I've been able to copy and paste my own from here, so why couldn't others?

I believe that you have to be logged in to be able to see your own content.

What is displayed to customers is only the section of your article that you entered in the box when you submitted it. As long as you only entered a third or so, then that's all a potential content thief will be able to see.

Sometimes you may need to reveal more than a third of your article. It's a balancing act between showing enough of your article to tempt a prospective buyer and hiding enough to prevent copying.

Ok, thanks for the reply. That's what I was afraid of, but I've noticed some writers post their entire articles on here...seems like there should be some kind of safeguard to keep articles (or even just parts of articles) from being copied. Does anyone else have any input on this?

There are ways to prevent copying text, yes, but most of them are fairly easy to get around. Disabling JavaScript on the site often does the trick.

I don't worry about it, though. CC does a pretty good job of dealing with plagiarists. They definitely earn their cut of the article sales!
