The guidelines state that no poetry or fiction is allowed. I found a few entries under
"Creative Writing" that are either poems or examples of creative writing that I would have classified as
fiction. Are these older, or is there some loophole there?

Most likely these are older submissions. In the past, a few customers requested poetry, so authors were permitted to submit poems for those requests.
