Keywords

Hello! I'm in the process of writing my first article for CC, so I haven't yet uploaded any content yet. Is there a limit on how many keywords we can use? That would be helpful for me to know now, as I'm not very far into the article yet. I'm working with a select group of keywords, but I'm finding that variations on those words are sometimes more appropriate and I'm not sure if I can include them with all their variations (ie: save, saving). If I have to re-work it some to accommodate a limit of five or so, I can still do it. But for now, I'm still seeding them all in there.

While I'm here, I have another question. The article I'm writing involves "Tips" that I plan on listing numerically. As of right now, I'm using the following format for each tip:

1) Boldface type for the main point. Regular type here to elaborate on the main point in a few sentences.

I'm hoping this is a good way to do this here, as I'm attempting to stress the main point in each tip. Any thoughts?

Hi and welcome to CC. Your list-bold formatting convention should be fine. As far as keywords, as long as the article doesn't sound forced and overly repetitive, your keyword strategy shouldn't be an issue. Variations of keyword phrases are a good thing in my opinion :) Try to use your keywords strategically (in titles, headers, bullet lists, etc) rather than based on sheer numbers and you may find you like the results.

For example:
1) Boldface type for the main point with the occasional keyword placed in this section. The boldface and the location of the keyword in a bullet list tells Google the phrase is "important."

Thank you, Celeste! That's a relief, since I didn't want to get too far along before getting those questions answered. Incidentally, I found your site with your E-book on writing for CC and I'm planning to download it as soon as I get some funds credited to my paypal account.

Thanks again for your time,

Mark
