How long do public requests remain private?

I have an article that was accepted on May 28th. It has not had any views since it was approved.
How long will the article remain exclusively offered to the person who made the public request? If they decline to purchase it, will it go to the top of the appropriate category or get slid in among the other articles accepted around May 28th?

I am very new here, but I have had a couple of articles accepted for public requests. Here is the message I got:
"The article will remain exclusive for the request during a 3 days period. If the customer decides against purchasing this article, we automatically put your article into our listings of available articles."
From what I have read, though, the actual time is more like seven to 10 days.
One of the articles I had accepted went past the three days without being purchased by the requester. After about a week I politely emailed support about it. The article was released later that day. It did not go to the top of its section. At least, it wasn't there by the time I first looked for it.

If you email support it could hurry things up.
