Hello,
I submitted a few articles yesterday afternoon and they haven't made it through the review process yet. I noticed that an article on a new topic is already on the articles page and must have been submitted and approved today.
Can you tell me how long it takes an article, as a rule, to get through review?
Thank you
Jeanette

reply to Sireen
Dear Sireen,
I had the same problem. Another author who has been here a lot longer had written an article for the same public request. I jumped right on it and posted mine within an hour and a half or two of the initial request. 36 hours later, mine is still pending review, that person's was up on the main articles page within a couple hours of the initial posting. Several others are also now up. I am still waiting, but it is well within the 3 days. I guess maybe that's what happens when you become established here well. Nobody will answer that question, so I guess we will have to wait and see.

Audrabianca,
I am not sure why you approach us with such a combative attitude. Sireen's problem was not the same problem as your problem - and if you had said something, someone would have rushed to fix it.
I have always been an advocate of fairness on this site. However, because we are an extremely small staff, and sometimes we are faced with as many as 200 articles in the queue waiting to be approved, sometimes articles get missed.
When a new request comes in, I try to approve the articles that have appeared as initial submissions - regardless who they are by - so the customer isn't kept waiting as the articles cycle through. This could take as much as three days, and by then the customer may have found what they are looking for elsewhere.
I apologize if your article was missed in this process, but your approach to the problem is not the right one. We are not intentionally trying to stiff anyone. If we were, you can bet there would b a lot of authors breathing down our necks.
Ed

Dear Ed
Dear Ed,
I don't feel combative at all. Just frustrated. I have about 13 articles up (only 1 of which was for public request) and no sales. Trying to get sales through the public request.
I think you guys do a great job! I think this is a great opportunity and a great service that you are providing. As it stands, my article must have gotten missed somewhere because it is still not there with the hair articles.
I didn't know I could bring that up anywhere. I didn't want the editorial staff to feel like I was breathing down their necks. I would hate that if that happened to me and I was the editor. Could you please check on that for me?
Which forum should we use if something like that happens again and we want to make sure our article also goes through in response to a public request?
Thank you very much.
Angela

Yes, your article did indeed get missed in the first batch of "hair" articles that were submitted. So sorry!
If something like this happens again, or if you have another concern, just ask. The Question/Answer forum is fine. We're in an out of CC several times a day . . . sometimes even at night if I can't sleep.
Don't worry, your articles will sell. Your style is clear and easily understandable, and you submit regularly. We're in a slow period right now, but this is just a down trend.
Thanks,
Ed

Hi, Angela,
I just wanted to add, I understand your frustration--I've submitted for a public request before, only to have the request filled by other authors before I got there. As a result, I'm extremely selective now about which public requests I'll write for. But let me encourage you that the hair request was a good one to write for, because it's a subject that other people will potentially be interested in! I've had articles written for one request sell to someone else several weeks later. I've heard of other authors here who have sold articles to someone else months later...even over a year! So don't get discouraged. As with any freelance writing, sometimes it's a waiting game.
And Ed's right--this is a slow time right now. A lot of us are experiencing that; it's not just you!
