Multimedia Guidelines

Post by Gail Kavanagh »

It's good to see the multimedia forms up and running, but I can't seem to find FAQs or guidelines anywhere. What is the minimum/maximum DPI? Preferred format - .jpg, gif? Do the images and videos go through a similar editorial process? I'm sure all the info's here somewhere, just point me in the right direction :-)

What is an easy way to do an EPS file?

Post by Lisa-Anne Sanderson »

Hello everyone,

It's great to see that new multimedia guidelines are up. I am looking forward to submitting photos and images! I am not sure how to do an EPS file, though. Is there an easy way to convert files?

Best Regards,
Lisa

If you are referring to the blog entry, those aren't the official guidelines. That is only preliminary information for when the service officially launches.

Thanks,
Ed

I shouldn't have used the word 'guidelines'. I'm sorry.

I'd still like help with my question from other Forum members, please?

EPS file formats

Post by REason »

The EPS file format is traditionally used for vector graphics (that is non-photographic). This format is often selected instead of the proprietary native format of most vector programs. The most popular vector based software is Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw. Both of these applications will be able to handle EPS files. Each of these programs handles the EPS files differently. Whatever vector application you are using, you will need to check the help files. Note: EPS is short for Encapsulated Post Script - if you are having trouble finding it in your software help files.

Sorry I can't be of more help. I don't know what program you are designing with.

Thank you

Thank you for your help. I was just thinking of scanning or photographing my illustrations at the moment though. That's why I am a bit puzzled about the EPS.

That makes much more sense now. I'm not sure what guidelines Constant Content is going to release. I do notice that there is a classic art category underneath illustrations. It is conceivable that they will allow scanned EPS files. That is hand created art, scanned and then saved in EPS format. Photoshop will save in EPS format. Although this wouldn't be my first file format choice.

Constant has indicated that there will be additional guidelines coming for illustrations. I am eagerly awaiting these.
