puzzled about public requests

I recently received the following message when an article of mine was declined:

"Please note the difference between public requests, which
go out to the CC community, and public requests, which go
out to individual writers. Articles must be categorized
appropriately. thanks."

I don't understand the reply!

(1) Should I conclude that I responded to a topic that wasn't meant for me? (2)Or that I responded to a topic that was meant for anyone including me? (3) or that my subject line was incorrect? (4) Or that the article was rejected by a CC editor for reasons having nothing to do with responding to a public request? Or (5) that the requester decided the article didn't fit her site?

I've already learned a lot from reading Forum posts. I hope someone can set me straight this time.

You placed your article under "private requests." The article you submitted was for a public request, not a private one, and therefore must be placed in an appropriate category.

When submitting articles and choosing the intitial category, you'll find a drop down list with choices like:
Private Request
Articles
Reviews
Blog entries
Tutorials

I think Private Request is the default one, or at least the first one listed. So, it sounds like you accidently chose this one by mistake. Next time, pick Articles - but don't stop there. There are categories within the Article section. If your article is about "gardening" choose the gardening category.
