Submitting Question (Help)

Is it recommended, that I have my articles copy written before submitting them?
Could I submit articles that are personal experiences? For example; If I wanted to submit an article about overcoming depression, then could I just submit an article discussing how I overcame it, personally?
I am a newbie and I am still in the process of learning and have been practicing grammar sheets as If I was in Elementary all over again. I am looking to make some nice income from writing articles, and would like to know some of the things customers look for.
I am not looking for you to give me all the secrets, I would just appreciate it, if a nice person(s) could lead me in the right direction. Thanks!
