website addresses in articles

Is it ok to mention a website in an article. In other words, if I'm talking about an organization and want to direct them to get more information or contact..can I direct them to example.org? (or is this the same as including an unsolicited link?)

Thanks.

If I can't say example.org...can I let them know that there is a website that they may find by typing "example" into the search engine?

I believe most webmasters would not have a problem with you including a link to their site, regardless of the size or any other factors of the company or organization.

Different story if you're having a dig at the site in question, but even then they get the Google advantage from it.

I believe it is CC's policy forbid websites or links in articles. It's okay to say the name, (for example: Overstock, but not www.overstock.com.).

Dorothy is correct. You cannot provide links in articles unless it is specifically requested by the purchaser. I believe this is stated in the Writer's Guidelines.

Thanks :)

(I read the guidelines...just wasn't sure if a website name was the same as a link)
