Questions about editing and deleting my content

I can't find answers to this in Help. so I am hoping someone here can enlighten me.
I am currently going through my accumulated content with the intention of deleting old unsold articles, improving them and resubmitting them for review. However I am getting confused with the edit/delete function.
Why are articles sold for full rights still available to be edited? I thought they were removed from the site. Why is there no delete function for an article with one usage sale? Why does it still have a tick on full rights? I would rather delete it and bring everything up to a new standard, with a new title as well, than just edit the text. Why do articles have no delete function at all, no matter what rights were sold? I would really like to get in and clean up my portfolio, and add improved material. I've been here since 2005, and even have a couple of old articles with all caps titles (yeah, they used to pass that once). But I cannot delete them, and cannot edit the titles. What to do? Does anyone know why this is so, and what I can do about it?

Hi Gail!
There are a few glitches in the system right now. I'm sure the techs are working on them, because some of the glitches have the potential to become problematic.
Usage articles that have sold at least once have never had the option for deletion since I've been here. I've always had to request support to do so if I wanted to delete one of them. Just be careful that you completely rewrite anything you delete, just in case it has been scraped and posted elsewhere online without your name. Even though the full right option shows when you click "edit," it doesn't (or shouldn't) show up when you just click on the article itself for viewing.
Happy writing,
WG

Thank you, Word Gypsy, I honestly never thought of usage articles being scraped and posted, though it still makes me scratch my head why articles sold for full rights still have the edit option, I really did think they were just removed from the site. However, I will bear your wise advice in mind and do a search first to see if anything turns up somewhere and do a thorough rewrite.

Hi Gail,
Why are articles sold for full rights still available to be edited? I
You cannot edit any of your content once it's been approved, regardless of whether or not it's sold or still available for sale. You can only change things like summaries, prices etc., which would be pointless if the article has been sold.
Why would you want to delete existing content? You can still update articles and submit them as new as long as you make sure they change enough from the originals. Seems to me that would double your chances of making a sale.

Yes, I know I can't edit the actual content, and yes, it would be pointless to edit the price etc, if it has been sold for full rights. That's my point. I thought articles sold for full rights would be removed from the site, at least from my content list. They are no longer my content, they belong to someone else.
As to why I would want to delete existing content - this is a dilemma for me. I have articles posted in 2005, which sold for usage. Things were slacker back then and the titles are in all caps. I would like to rework and resubmit these articles. But I cannot edit the title, or the content. I cannot remove it either. There is no delete option for these articles sold for usage only. I am trying to explain as best I can. What can I do about these old articles that I need to deal with? They are old dead content, sold for usage only. If I try to rework them and upload them as new articles, I will probably be accused of plagiarizing myself. I guess there is nothing I can do about them, all capped titles and all
Anyway, thanks for your help, I just have this anal need to tidy things up.

I suspect lots of writers, including me, are happy that we can go back and look at old sold content. we might want to review our pricing, look at our choice of keywords, our summary etc.
There is a filter option in My Content that lets you select only View articles for example. Unfortunatley, as far as I can see, there is no way to set a default preference for types of articles to be shown.
With regard to your old stuff, you are allowed on CC to submit articles previously published provided they are only for a Usage licence and that you can prove you are the owner. Since these old articles have already been accepted by CC as your work, I cannot see you having a problem with plagiarism - ownership should not be in doubt, and you know yourself you can only offer them for Usage.
