1099 Question

Hi all,

Question for a writer who was around last year when 1099s were issued. Since the next payment date is January 1st (or likely January 2nd), that income will count on 2014's taxes, correct? I'm trying to firm up withholding as we get close to the end of the year and want to make sure that today's payment was the last one of "this year" even though the articles we get paid for on the next payout will technically have been bought during 2013.

Sorry if that's confusing, and thanks for any insight you can provide.

CC doesn't issue any 1099 forms. They are a Canadian company. For those living in the US, it's important to keep all your sales recorded and submit as additional income on your tax return.

Ah, good to know. Thanks. I assume self-employment tax and income tax remain the same as they would be if I did get a 1099?

Just FYI for those people who are unorganized like me, you can run reports in Paypal for your 1099 payments for each company. It's what I had to do last year. :)
