HI
I am new here and have been struggling with the new submission form but after reading several posts and replies on the forums, I think I have re-solved most of my issues, which were primarily to do with how the formatting of one's text displays in the Content box.
However, I can now see that the auto-generated long summary has incorporated an unwanted paragraph break and has removed "bold" from headings ie it looks different to the Content box and corresponding file document. I didn't seem to be able to work directly in the long summary - which would seem to make sense as the long summary is auto-generated. I wonder whether anyone else has had this happen and has any suggestions. Should I worry? or do the editors look to the Content box. At this point, after deleting my file a number of times and re-doing it, I thought it best to submit it for review and just wait for feedback.
I have taken some time to try to use various formatting techniques (eg numbering, headers in bold) in order to enhance the presentation of my material but perhaps it is better not to do that after all? I am familiar with working in a blog format and realise that how it appears behind the scenes isn't always how it looks on the web page. I had saved my file as a RTF document, in order to save the formatting (according to advice I had seen).
Thanking you,
Karen

Re: Long Summary
Are you talking about the editor?
If you are copy/pasting from Word, you want to remove the extra link spacing. You want to make it single spaced and then remove the extra spacing between paragraphs, so you have to press enter twice between paragraphs. Then, all you need to do is copy/paste into the editor.

Re: Long Summary
HI Lysis,
yes I meant the Content Editor.
I think that my content looks to display correctly there in the Content Editor - I had in fact followed advice about the paragraph spacing given by you in an earlier reply on this forum; thank you very much.
But I still find that, similar to others who have posted, that the content in the Long Summary doesn't look quite the same as it does in the Content Editor (from which it is auto generated).
For instance, I had inserted the title line, followed by the byline (on a new line), as shown in an old template provided by Celeste Stewart. However, in the Long Summary, these two lines are now separated by a paragraph break - which looks odd.
Does the title and/or by line need to be included in the Content Editor in this new submission form? Or are people only inserting text there? Or putting their "By" Line at the top and then their text?? I would really appreciate advice on this point from those experienced with the new submission form system. Perhaps I need to delete my file before it is reviewed and try again.

Re: Long Summary
Oh, I see. I don't think you have to worry about the long summary formatting. The only time I mess with the long summary is if I get a revision request and have to change the content.
