Blog question re:rights

Post by shelstyle »

I'm wondering how it works if I post a blog article for sale that is currently posted on my personal blog. Can I keep it on my blog until someone purchases it? And then do I have to remove it from mine only if someone purchases unique or full rights?

Thanks!

I was wondering about the same thing. Maybe someone will answer.

I would imagine that's kind of shaky ground. If the customer uses any sort of plagiarism checker then your page will still be indexed for a while even after you remove it. This means it would show up as being plagiarism and the search engines are likely to treat it as non unique content as well.

I think the unique and full rights, certainly in terms of copyright laws, state that the article/blog/review must be previously unpublished.

Personally I would say that if it has been published on your own blog before or now, you are at best stretching these rules.

Presumably, though, Chris or someone at CC will have a better idea.

It must be removed before it is listed. If we find that the article/blog has already been published and you are asking unique and fullrights for it, the article will be rejected.

You could however sell a usage license, just not unique or full rights.
