Author etiquette

I'm new here and wondering if there's any unspoken etiquette when a new request is posted? I noticed one on a topic I'd be interested in writing about, but someone posted a note saying she'd begin work on it on Monday. Would it be unprofessional of me to write up an article and post it before then, or is it just first come, first served, and may the best article sell?

It's strictly first come, first scripted. Write away.

Hi,

I'm the one who posted that message. I just wanted to let the requestor know that I wouldn't be able to work on it until Monday, so they would know that more articles would be coming, and hopefully will leave the request open until I can work on one too. I just couldn't start on them immediately. Sorry to cause confusion. Anyone can post to any request however.

Thanks! :-)

Thanks!

Thanks, that clears it up. I just didn't want to step on anyone's toes.

Shelstyle,

There are rules here--but they're spoken. If you notice, there's a request not to post about unwritten/under review content. However, you can direct the requestor to one of your articles by looking up its number and posting a little something about it.
