Hello,

I've statred submiting articles to CC about 2 weeks ago. To my surprise, after a couple of days, I already sold 3 articles for usage.

Most of my articles are posted for usage rights as I maintain a blog where my articles are also posted.

I was wondering what the demand was for usage content. I'm thinking for quitting blogging for a while and moving to selling content for full rights.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Dorian

Hi, Dorian --

I haven't been around for too long myself, but I have a suggestion for you. Go to the "Authors" page and click on some of the names in the most prolific and most sold lists - that will show you how their sales break down. I know there is at least one writer that sells loads of "use" articles.

Good luck to you!

Full Rights and Unique is in much higher demand here.

I'd say less than 5% of my articles go for usage rights. If you look at the top seller list, you'll see those with higher usage sales such as Word Gypsy, beconrad, and Mary Alward are in the 10% - 20% range as far as usage is concerned.

I see some who are selling a lot of usage articles for less than ten bucks a pop and that can add up if you can jam out enough articles (plus, if you've already used them elsewhere I guess it's all icing on the cake) but I prefer selling one $100 article over ten $10 articles. That's just me.

Do what makes the most sense for you and who knows, you may carve out a nice little niche for yourself. By trying a few different approaches, you'll find your rhythm.
