Informing a possible client of a new article at the site

Hello,

I've written an article which may interest a client who bought a previous one. Can I email them separately with the link to the article at the site?

Best Regards,

Lisa

I can't speak to the official rules, but unless my relationship with the client pre-dated my relationship with C-C, I wouldn't.

Just my thoughts,

Lisa (Why do I feel like I'm talking to myself? )

All comunication with customers should be through the site. If the client has a request in you can post your article there.

Hi Lisa and Admin,

I did get a different answer from Support: Hi -

I see nothing wrong with this, as long as you keep selling your articles
through CC. We have found some writers that have went around the site to cut
us out.

Now I am a bit puzzled and I did send the client the link to the article but I won't do this in future if it's not allowed, although I can't see anything wrong with it.

Also can we become affiliates if we are writers?

Best Regards,

Lisa

Again, I don't work for C-C so I don't know exactly what the review process involves but I'm both an author and an affiliate. :) (Actually, I've also been a customer.)

Hi Lisa,

Thank you. My application for being an affiliate was accepted so I thought maybe I should check.

It's hard to check on topics that are likely to sell, isn't it? I read the recently sold with great interest and try to come up with new topics all the time.

Regards,

Lisa :)

One really excellent feature about the site is that it allows customers to subscribe to categories of interest; as I understand it, when a new article is posted in their category, they receieve an email with the information. I've occasionally had articles sell within fifteen or twenty minutes after their acceptance and I think this could only be due to that email notification.

I wonder, when a buyer purchases content, do they or can they receive a header along with the article that requests them to sign up for email notifications? Should the writers attach some sort of blurb to preface the articles? --Jennifer

I have no idea what percentage of buyers "subscribe" but I think promoting that option is a very good idea. It could be placed many places on the site - CC's personal RSS feed-type of thing. Since many authors have private CC arrangements with buyers, it would help other authors as well as the buyers who really browse the site.

If a buyer is wanting to subscribe to "gardening" must they discover that "gardening" is under Lifestyle?

I think promoting "subscribe" is a very good thing. Of course, perhaps a large number of buyers already subscribe - no way to know.
