Ed- I bought red editor pencils.. and I want to use them!

Ed,
Quick question. I have noticed that 1 of my articles I cherish dearly has a high hit rate, but is yet to sell, even just for use. I am refering to the "Embracing Compulsive Consumerism." I don't want to go down in price any more on it, so I printed it out last night and took red pencil to it. I think the information in there is important, but the organization just buries the best points and the word weight needs to be slimmed down.
What is the protocol for editing posted work that has not sold in any shape of form? Simply delete it, rework, and resubmit with a note to editor that it is a rewrite?
Thanks.
