Citation Question

Hi everyone,
I have a quick question about citing print sources within an article. It states in the guidelines that you can use your preferred citation style, but what about in-text citations? I'm hesitant to include in-text citations in my articles, because I'm afraid it would be inappropriate for this site. At the same time, I don't want encounter any plagiarism issues. Perhaps I should just write "According to so and so," and leave it at that.
What do you all think?
