Hi CC, Support, and All!
I think the current search engine default lists the articles from first submitted to current. This means that the latest articles are buried pages behind articles that were written several years ago. I know choosing Order by Date Descendancy is an option, but how many customers know to do that? Most would just start browsing through the list as it first appears after searching on the key word.
It would be good to give new and current authors a better chance of sales by having the list generated by the search engine appear with the latest articles visible first, rather than showcasing old and sometimes free articles, (which just shows how old the articles are).
CC should also consider deleting old articles that do not meet the current submission guidelines - personal POV, free, poetry, etc. If the authors are still active currently with the site, give the authors a chance to change the article to meet the submission guidelines (ie change the price from free to another price). This way, customers can see a consistent quality of articles. Also new authors browsing the site would be less confused and would also see the expected standard. This could save Ed some time in the forums answering questions from confused new authors and in reviewing articles that do not meet the current submission guidelines.
At the least, changing the default to show the latest articles to meet the search criteria gives the customers a showcase of articles that do meet the current standards first. Customers will probably buy from that set, rather than scroll through the pages to the older articles.
