Complaint against customer!

Post by damyanti »

Kind Attn: Chris

One of my articles,at All Content » Articles » Entertainment » Actor/Actress Profiles, called

Jet Li: A Timid Boy to Mega-movie Martial Artist,
with the serial number 11862,
was sold for unique rights at 15 $.
But the customer has published the page without my name, at http://www.jet-li.com/biography.

Please help me on this as I am sure that the customer should have paid me 25$, for full rights. The customer has also tried to misguide me by saying that the license was for a site called "Automobile Insurance Review", which is a valid website, but does not carry my article on it.

While the 10$ is not an issue, I am sure all writers would like a problem like this resolved.I just stumbled on the website, and have always taken the words, " unique" and "usage" on faith.

I now will be checking for all the sites where my articles with these rights are published.

Please could you check with the customer about what seems to be the problem?
Thanks,
Damyanti.

We looked at your article and no where does it contain your writer name in the article. Per our rules if the writer name is not in the downloaded article, the customer does not need to add the writers name.

We can ask the customer that your name be added, but it would be totally up to them if they choose to or not.

In the future if you want your name to be included in the article, please add it to the beginning or end of the piece.

I am actually surprised at the amount of articles that I review that have no byline. I know that some writers do not want a byline. If you do, be sure to add it.

Thanks for the clarification

I really was not paying much attention to putting my name in the articles, because I assumed if the customer knew my name, he or she is bound to put it!

Thanks for the clarification, and I hope all writers, escpecially the newbies, are aware of this!

Further, it does not hurt to do an advanced search on Google with the first sentance on the article, to see that the customer has actually provided the byline/name, and this is what I am going to do from now on! :)

Hi -

The problem is unless the name is in the article, the buyer has no way of knowing your name. They would have to go back an look at the writers penname and many times that is not the writers name.

Do you want me to contact the buyer and ask if they can put your name in?

Writer Guidelines:
• If you wish to receive a byline, you must include your name in the article.

Author FAQ:
Will my name appear on my articles I submit?

Your name should appear in all articles you submit, but in order to make sure you should add your name to the article itself. Some people will add a small sentence saying written by so and so to ensure this. If a customer purchases a Full Rights license they do have the ability to remove your name from that article.
