Author Ratings

After reading the post about some articles containing errors, I would like to suggest some sort of rating system for authors. Maybe customers could have the option of giving a star rating to the authors they have purchased articles from?

Sorry but I tend to disagree, personally I hate the 'star rating' system because so many sites use that now and or even feedback.
Especially feedback, too much like ebay!
Plus, I believe this site needs to remain 'professional' and I don't think those systems are professional, once again...maybe too much like ebay. Did I mention that I don't like ebay?? LOL
That's just my own personal preference though, others may thing it's a great idea...I guess we'll see what everyone else thinks about it.
This will be an interesting poster!

Although I can see why it would be nice to have a ratings system, I also fully understand Lady Jade's point of view. I've had bad experiences with feedback systems in the past (let's just say ebay isn't my favorite place either, lol), and I feel it leaves room for people to speculate and take advantage of the power to influence someone's reputation. At this point in time, I think that the administrators here at CC are able to stay on top of the quality of the writers here, and if one of us catches something and brings it to their attention, they are always very responsive and speedy in handling the situation. After all, the more quality writers there are producing content on CC, the better off their business is.

My feeling is that ratings are too objective and therefore arbitrary. Many things make an article "good" or "bad," but different authors have their individual strong points. Some give information concisely for a broad audience, using as few words as possible. Some go into specific details. There are articles here for everyone's needs, and I think because of the variety, everyone is entitled to a fair chance
This site is here to address the need of web site owners. Some owners don't want verbosity, others do.

Hi,
I agree with the others that this isn't the place for a system like ebay's. Ebay ratings work well until someone abuses it. Then you would need to have many positives to overcome. The only way someone could possibly benefit here is if we were selling hundreds of articles per month each, and our positive feedback far outweighed the negative. But, if we only sell 20 articles in a month, and get a negative from someone who just didn't like our style, it would look really bad for us. It might cause us to miss customers who might like our work.
Just my two cents worth!

ratings are not realy needed

The needs of various customers are different. One or two purchases and the customer usually knows whether he or she is getting money's worth.Long summaries should also be good enough to give a fair idea!

I tend to agree with LadyJade, Dorothy, Candice and the rest. We have a good thing going with this website just as it is. I don't believe in fixing something that isn't broken. You usually end up with a big mess.

Blinding topic.
Rating would make the site feel like scriptlance (am I allowed to use that word?) and if you write an article that an individual doesn't like you could easily get stiffed for it.
How about a Constant Content Wallet instead? Buyers could add favourite authors to their wallet and they could add links to articles they may be interested in so they could quickly find them at a later date. This might already be possible, I wouldn't know because I'm not a buyer.
