Keyword optimisation

Can anyone tell me please if when writing an article, I should be thinking about keyword optimisation?
For instance, let's say I have a piece for my website about Growing Unusual Vegetables. In a 500/600 word article, I would typically include those words five or six times, but should I be doing the same in my Constant Content articles?

It's really up to you. It's not necessary, but some writers use SEO as a matter of course. This blog entry may help:
