Inappropriate Posting Titles

Post by jentypist »

Hello, I've seen some pretty racy and explicit sounding posting titles, mainly through searches I've done on various benign topics. I have not opened them on my computer, due to the computer I'm using. Can anyone tell me how such postings make it on to the site? :?

I'm a little puzzled, as I went looking for the kinds of titles you mentioned and had trouble finding anything too scary. My (unscientific) survey included searching for several heavily loaded terms and failed to turn up anything one might not see in Cosmo or Vogue - even on the cover. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that CC's editorial policy is more content neutral than your own. If you're afraid that accessing these titles might cause problems 'because of the computer you're using' (I'm presuming that means it's not your own, perhaps a work laptop or similar that's monitored by others), I would strongly suggest that you avoid using that computer for purposes that the owners would find objectionable.

Just my $.02; perhaps Ed or Celeste has a different take.

If you mean spam in the forums, this will be addressed in the near future:

Currently there is too much spam for moderators to keep the forums clear. No one likes it, but at this point, we just have to ignore it.

Ah, never occurred to me that you might be talking about the forums. :D (sheepish grin)

Our postings are usually G-rated but the spammers' postings are quadruple-triple XXX. Ignore them. You're never obligated to read a post here. If the subject line is offensive, you can bet the rest of the post is too.

I'm so happy that the spam problem has been nipped in the bud with this new board! If you want to revoke my "moderator" status now that spam is no longer an issue, I won't be offended.

It's a relief, isn't it? We don't have to cringe every time we sign on. Thanks for all your help, Celeste.
