How many spaces should I put in after each number in a list of numbered items?
For example:
1. First item
2. Second item
I used to put two spaces next to numbers. Is this still the norm?
My word processor is wanting to close the gap, so getting the formatting to turn out right and then save to a .txt file with the right spacing is turning into a challenge.
BTW: Are numbered items acceptable here?
I've skimmed a few long summaries, but haven't found any examples.

Re: Space Next to Numbered Items?
Yes, numbered items are permitted, but we do not generally accept articles that are simply lists with no explanation for each item provided.
Because web formatting/html doesn't support double spaces after periods, single spaces have become the norm after all periods. For CC's purposes, it doesn't really matter, though spaces should appear between each numbered section.
Thanks,
Ed

Re: Space Next to Numbered Items?
One thing to remember is that you still want double spaces in between each numbered line.
1: This is the bomb!
2: Wasn't that the bomb?
Most word processing programs don't do this right away, so you'll have to play with it a bit.
