Are music-related articles a decent seller on CC?
Hello, I am a new user here on CC, just signed up at the recommendation of a friend who told me it would be a nice way to (hopefully!) earn a few dollars here and there while I search for work. I was wondering about the demand or market for articles pertaining to music, whether it be reviews, evolutions of different genres over the years, in-depth histories of different bands, etc. As I understand, the better selling categories seem to be things about computers/technology, travel, and health, which I could probably also write about, but my main expertise is in music. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Why not try it and see? I have seen a few articles about music on the Recently Sold list in the past though I don't recall much about them. If you can tie music into more popular categories such as "picking the perfect music for your wedding" or "how to create a music playlist that rocks your iPod" or "how to edit music on your computer," those might be good sellers. What I loved when I first started here was just writing about what appealed to me. Turns out, some of what appealed to me appealed to other people, so give it a try

Wow, thanks for the advice! I feel a tad embarrassed that I didn't think of tying it into other categories like that. Actually, now that I think about it, I could probably do one or two about picking music for a wedding, one for people looking for more "traditional" timeless music, and one for more unorthodox choices.Celeste Stewart wrote:Why not try it and see? Something I recently learned about is people adding music to their self published audio books. While I don't know much about the process of audio books, there are a lot of people out there self publishing them. Perhaps an article on types of music for different genres of books would be in order. I may even research the process myself.
I'm an old school rock and metal fan, so I haven't liked much since Pearl Jam ruined music IMO.
As Celeste said, write about whatever you want. I've made some surprising sales here (even one of my political rants). The most important thing is to write and learn from your mistakes. Good luck...

I watch some of the website trends, and there is a trend for music comparison and download sites. Of course, the downloading music is nothing new, so people into that kind of stuff are finding other ways (comparison sites). You can give it a shot like Celeste said.
