Anyone addicted to Google's new "3D earth view" in Google Maps? It's like Google Earth, but browser based and with a little more oomph. I think it blends satellite images with topo maps and a splash of 3D gaming technology.
Since we're all online, I thought it would be fun to show our unique Earth views especially since CC is so international. I realize that some of us may not want our exact location broadcast for the whole world to see. So, how about posting where we were born or a favorite vacation spot?
Here's my birthplace:

And yes, that's Mt. Fuji you see in the background

Re: Just for fun - Google Earth 3D!
I went and found my spot - my second home in the tropics of Borneo - but I can't figure out how to get a link to the spot. There is a good article idea for someone else (I can't figure it out LOL).
Oh and CC works - I just sold a little article on luxury books I did awhile back for a public request. The requester did not buy it so I figured it would never sell, but sure enough, it sold

In the upper right section, there's a place to create a link or send an email.

Ok, I'm blind. Thanks Celeste.
Here is my other home in Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo. http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF ... 9,27.598,0 The green with little green dots in rows is palm oil plantations. If you pan back you can see how it is close to the South China Sea.
At the bottom of the frame in an arc shape is a new housing project we looked at. $300,000 for a waterfront 4 bedroom 3 level townhome overlooking the Likas River hitting the South China Sea. The University is just to the right, and Southeast Asia's largest shopping mall is just down the road. http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF ... 7,31.656,0

Ya'll can come on over anytime, and you won't sneak up on me with three watchdogs watching.
Scroll right when you get to the map. My house is the white dot surrounded by woods, the second one from the paved road. You can't see my driveway because it's completely buried in trees, just love that part. If you zoom out a little, you can see the Mississippi River winding around to the north. It's not Mt. Fuji, but I think it's pretty neat.
Three years ago, none of those houses were built along Birch Hill Drive. It was so nice to have zero neighbors! Alas. Time marches on.
Thanks for suggesting this! What fun.

Living near the mighty Mississippi is nothing to sneeze at - very cool!
Here's a shot of my community. While the ocean looks pretty close, it's about an hour's drive:

Still trying to get to JadeDragon's Borneo hideaway. For some reason my browser isn't cooperating with Jade's link but I had mangoes for dinner tonight and thought of you
