Newbie question about using interview quotes

Post by ayresdream »

Does CC allow articles that quote information that comes from an interview done specifically for the article? An example I'm thinking of might read: "Flat tires are very common during holiday travel. Jane Doe of the Regional Automobile Club recommends that drivers check their tire pressure before leaving on their vacation."

I'm sure that would be perfectly acceptable. You could also add a sentence of hers in quotes, as long as you have her exact words, to add even more authenticity. It's plagiarism that is a no no here, so material from your own interview is ok. Just don't overdo it. Oh, and don't let yourself creep in, eg "she told me ..." Good luck.

Some writers here use HARO to find quotable people. In many cases you could just pick up the phone though.
