To see what's selling and what buyers are trying to find, check out "Recently sold content" and "Requested articles," respectively. That'll give you some ideas, if nothing else.
Recently sold content is the best place to look to see what's selling at the moment. I always check there first thing in the morning. Right now, travel articles seem to be really hot. :wishes she had done more traveling:
But also look at the category when viewing at the recently sold page. You'll see that most of the travel articles are for private requests so it's not as if someone is browsing the travel section and buying those. Those requests are asking specific authors to write them up with specific requirements such as word count, keywords, locations, etc.
