Trying to Improve Can Be Time Consuming

In trying to step up my writing and aim for higher quality articles, I've been doing tons of reading and research, and learning about things like clarity and conciseness... It is becoming very time consuming to constantly change, change, and change my articles, but I'm hoping that spending the extra time now will pay off in the long run. Mind you, I am enjoying being able to watch my articles transform into something better... and I'm surprising myself at how different my writing becomes as I push past the usual style that I write in.
Sadly, my current projects will definitely not be of a high dollar per hour value lol... though I'm guessing by trying to improve my skills, these ideas will flow more naturally as I write, so that later I will be able to produce better pieces in a shorter time. Please tell me this is true, for I'd like to know these writing muscles aren't flexing in vain :)
