Hi all,

I always keep an eye on the recently sold list. I was amazed when I looked at the range of topics sold just today. We are really are an eclectic and diverse bunch, aren't we?

Articles sold on topics included:
Feng Shui, Sexy men and women, E-Disharmony (note to self: must read that, it sounds interesting!), a video game review, highlighting hair tips, the benefits of olive oil, how to make a pillow, a celebrity natal star chart, zodiac signs, the life of a polar bear, five dictator warning signs, how to easily digest what you read, tips for new runners, acceptance (parenting), endangered species, cats and tigers.

Phew! This is just one day's last 20 sales. I guess you really can't tell what people will be looking for next. It does make life interesting around here. I just wish one of those articles had been mine!

The holidays tend to bring out everyone. Content of just about every type will be needed. Online retailers have an advantage over local department stores in that they don't have to charge a 500 to 1000% markup. They're going to need keyword rich content to help drive the search engines right to them. I'm even thinking about writing a few product reviews.

My wife worked for a magazine years ago. She was telling me just yesterday that I need to write more holiday oriented articles at this time of year. (Actually she told me I should have already started.) Most websites will want that content ready to immediately place on "Black Friday" or before, and print publications will want it well before.

I work part-time in a book store, and are attached to the café. I'm dreading the holidays myself. It's always fun to have ticked off people, a line to the back of the store, and complainers just looking for opportunities to get free food and drinks.

I guess it's just like what I told the two people I've referred here. Just write what you know, even if it doesn't seem like it'll sell. I know management, customer service, computers, and a good bit about many other subjects. I hold a degree in religion, but I try to stay away from that subject. (Causes too many arguments.)

Yesterday I had a defense attorney ask me if I was a lawyer. He had overheard a discussion I was having with someone about recent Supreme Court cases, and about "Fairness Doctrine" (which was deemed unconstitutional a long time ago). So have those articles about the Buckley vs. Valejo (campaign finance) decision ready to go by the 2010 senatorial and congressional elections.

Personally, I keep a few journals where I write down potential article titles. I think people would like to know the benefits of switch grass and its environmental impact on the soil. Who knows... Perhaps the plethora of titles and subjects will draw more potential buyers.
