Check this site for your stolen content. I recognized a lot of articles from CC on the site. The only way I found out about it was when my article was rejected for non-exclusive publishing at AC.

I have already notified support.

That bites! Looks like a Russian site based on the URL, published on Word Press. Maybe we need to lobby blogging sites like Word Press to implement some sort of plagiarism check. Word Press features "web snipping" tools (I think for excerpts but still) that give the impression that it's okay to copy content and post it to your blog. Arrgh. It's so annoying and becoming more rampant. Thanks for the link.

I had an article today discovered by AC after submitting an old article that hadn't sold yet over here. In my case, it appeared to be a one-time theft, but I'll go back and check it out further. The URL to mine was: http://pp.flipmytext.com/ if anyone wants to explore. The site changed the text enough to perhaps fool Google alerts (I didn't have an alert set up though), but AC's Copyscape or whatever-tool-they-use caught it. These thieves make me mad!

If the site's server is located in the US or a treaty country, an official DMCA complaint is sufficient to get the site shut down until the infringing material is removed. Here's the skinny on the .ru site:

Hey, Celeste, I am so close but so far away. Too bad thieves live right here in my state.

You're in Russia? :)

By the way, I was up late last night figuring out another way to catch these thieves, well at least detect our stolen content faster. I found a site called FairShare.cc that monitors RSS feeds and reports back where the content of these feeds is being used. It's pretty cool. Works great for AC content because you can easily create an RSS feed for your own content. I have an article over there in the Que detailing FairShare and will post it here for usage once it's up.

For CC it's a bit more complicated because we don't have individual writer's feeds. No worries, you can create one in Google Reader and then use that feed in FairShare. I put the instructions for doing that over at AC for display only (so I could link it as part 2 to the orginal article) and am posting it here for usage. Keep your eyes out for those articles. I think this might be a really good way to stay on top of these thieves.
