short blogs or long article?

Typically I write longer-length articles. I just finished a 1,000 word article that could be split up into several smaller articles or blogs (5 250-300 word entries). Each could stand alone, with the addition of intros and conclusions.

What is your experience, authors? Will shorter articles have a better chance for sales than one comprehensive article on the topic? Is it worth splitting it up?
Thanks,
emma

Hmmn, not sure. It seems to me like it's just as hard to sell a 1000-word article as it is to sell a 300-word article, so I'd be more inclined to keep it as is. You might try putting it up for sale as is and then revisit it in a month or two. If it doesn't move, then pull it and try it as three smaller articles.

Or how about keeping the long one and rewriting the three smaller ones? As long as they are worded completely differently, and meet the site guidelines, they should be accepted here. Then you'll have the best of both worlds.

I hadn't thought of doing both. I've been wary of writing about the same exact thing twice - somewhere on the forums (Ed?) it was discouraged. But I suppose this wouldn't be the exact same thing, just more specific articles with more detail. And, as you said, reworded.

It's like this. See, when you have one thousand or more word article, you can put what? a hundred dollars to sell it on full rights. Maybe 150. When you have four 300 word articles, you can put individual prices on them. Such as 50, 59, 45, 51. Altogether, it goes well above your original article price.

Now, the simple rule is when you have more articles, you have more sales. So, it's naturally better to have four than one. But since four cause less money if two get sold, then it's less money but faster money. But in your case, the four articles are related, so a customer might be interested in purchasing all together. Isn't it a really cool deal? So, go ahead submit as four articles instead of one.
