Grammar Traps and Prevent vs. Avoid

The follow page discusses some "grammar traps" that many writers get caught by:

Please pay particular attention to the difference between "prevent" and "avoid." Many writers who submit content to CC confuse these two words.

Just happened to need this today, Ed, thanks.

So:
Avoid all contact with a poison ivy plant.
To prevent a rash after touching a poison ivy leaf, clean the affected area with a solvent like rubbing alcohol.
Is that right?
