Hard part is over HAHAHA, I am going to be paranoid everytime I submit an article! My grammar is horrible and my spelling is worse. I am convinced the editor at Suite 101 hates me!

karrie,
I've written some children's books too. What are your titles?

I think I'm almost up to 70 articles now, and I am always paranoid about my submissions here. I try to tell myself to relax and just fix a mistake if it happens, but man the wait time sucks. LOL The Internet has created a bunch of NOW NOW NOW people, so I have to remind myself that a week is really nothing. It does help to submit a couple of articles every few days. Then you don't feel it as much if you need to resubmit. I imagine even the most easy-going person feels a little sunken heart from a rejection. It's part of the game, but it doesn't mean we can't admit to how much it sucks. LOL
Don't feel badly about the grammar and spelling. I have some serious brain farts and need to use dictionary.com or thesaurus.com. I keep telling myself I'm not the only one! LOL

Wow, my first public submission sold. I am excited. I am planning a 6 month road trip with my kids beginning in August and I am hoping to use CC to sell articles and generate some income while I am gone... I am very impressed thus far. It took me 6 months to earn anything with Suite101 so this is very awesome. I hope to build up an article base over the next 9 months before we leave!
I have another article awaiting aproval but, it is not a requested one so I know it will take longer.
Once you have one article accepted does the three article submission rule loosen?
Oye, I have to go get my kids busy on their school work...

That's great news, Karrie. I think that you have to have three articles submitted before you can submit as many as you want. Hope I understood you right.
A road trip sounds fantastic. Think of all the travel articles you could write! They sell pretty decently here, in spurts like everything else.

Congrats Karrie! That feels so good! 9 months is definitely enough time to build up a strong article base, so when road-trip time rolls around I bet you will be in good shape! And just think how you will feel when you stop at a campsite, log onto a wireless connection and find out another couple of pieces sold while you were cruising down the freeway belting out "99 bottles of beer on the wall...."
I seem to remember that I had a few articles accepted before the 3 at a time got switched to unlimited. Emma is probably right about it being 3....I know it didn't take long, whatever the exact number was.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using a dictionary or thesaurus when you write. They're tools of the trade, both for writing and editing. I've been an editor for years and never work without a dictionary at arm's length (or m-w.com open on my computer). It doesn't matter if you're looking up how to spell
cat or checking the nuance of a word, it's part of what conscientious wordsmiths do. (I'm not even going to pretend I didn't just have to check my spelling of
conscientious . . .)
*Speaking of editing -- and unsolicited feedback
-- it's not a matter of feeling "badly," it's a matter of feeling bad. You need the adjective there, not the adverb. (If the nerves on your fingertips weren't working, you'd feel badly.) Hope you don't mind the comment . . .
