Back From The Dead!

Hi Everyone!

I have not written an article for CC in over a year - I just submitted a new article!

Just wondering how things have changed here at CC? What is a typical review time? Have acceptance standards stayed the same or changed? Have sales been improving for all of you? (When I was here last, CC had the old "red" version of the website!) Any other new things that I should know about? I now have Dragon Naturally Speaking software and it has greatly increased my writing speed. I am thinking of starting to submit to CC on a regular basis again.

I actually have $48.50 in earnings this month, which is amazing considering I have not written for CC in ages! I can only image what that figure would be had I produced 10 to 12 articles a month for the past year.

Hope to hear from you!

Best,

Michael-John Wolfe

Well, as someone else who is back on the C-C bandwagon after falling off writing a great deal since giving birth in June, I can tell you a ton has changed. Quality has improved, a good thing. Public requests are flying, and they now expire. Also, when you submit for one, you designate so in the submission process which not only bumps you up in the que, but also protects your piece for 3 days for the original requester (no issues of another buyer snarking a public request meant for another customer).

Also, the payment threshold is $5, and in the recently sold section you can also now see recently searched terms. Also, instead of the less than enlightening author lists for most sold and most available, each category is now divided and has a list of the most prolific authors in that topic. So for example, I am the last entry in Technology with 3 articles available. This way customers can see who is really working in a topic and make a more informed Private Request, should they choose to do so. Also, customers get to subscribe to categories in RSS feeds.

I'm sure there's a ton more, but that's the gist. I'd read the FAQs and other documentation. I know working for other sites can make you forget the submission guidelines for C-C.

Thanks for the info Elizabeth! What are typical review times now before an article is accepted/rejected?

Also, I used to submit only 2/3rds of my articles where clients could view a sample. Now I see that many writers are putting the entire article - is this typical? I put the full article on my recent submissions.

Thanks!

MJ

I've always put the full article.

The reviews times vary, when lots of public requests come down the pipe (like the other day) the review time slows down. It's been rare I've had anything NOT for public or private request approved within 1 day. I would say generally it can take from 2-6 days, depending on the volume. And nothing is approved on weekends.

I've had articles approved on weekends, and they weren't public request articles. The quickest acceptance I've had from Ed was less than half an hour (again, not a public request article), the longest was about a week.
