Is it ok to use brand names that have become common use for a type of product? A few examples are 'Jello' for gelatin, or 'Band-Aid' for a bandage. What are the rules when it comes to using a brand name?

Just capitalize them correctly - that's the only rule I can think of.

The copyright symbol and the trademark symbol is the only other "rule" that I could think of.

This isn't necessary for brand names that have become household names. It just becomes a distraction.
