Average number of hits before a sale?

Hello!
I was wondering what everyone's average was for number of hits before an article sells. I only have about 20 articles up, so I know that I haven't reached the "critical mass" where things start selling, but I have 3 articles that have sold for full rights at between 60-80 views and then one that has sold for usage after only 8 views. Does anyone keep stats on their own library? It would be very interesting to see.
Hope you all are having a productive day!
Katie

I completely depends on the subject matter. I've noticed the articles that would appeal to CC authors (make money online) get lots of extra hits. As you know you just need the right buyer to come along.

Have you checked the keywords you have listed for each article? Really think outside the box and include as many search terms as you can think of that the buyer might use and would be happy to find your article. You might see more sales if your articles are easier to find.
You could also select Best Offer on some of them and see if perhaps your pricing is just slightly higher than the going rate for articles of that type.
The longer you are here you will find pricing is a little subjective. Easier subjects, and one where there is a plethora of articles available in the subject sometimes sell faster a little lower priced than articles that require very in-depth research or are specialty niches.
I'm thinking about writing a 500 piece explaining the difference between a dental insurance plan and a dental discount plan. Another piece on when is a dental discount plan worth the money? The first piece for full rights I would probably charge $35-$45, it's not content that is difficult to write for me. The second is slightly more focused, so I would price is slightly higher, probably $45-$55. But that's my own system, every author here has different strategies.
As far as your original question, my hits vary too much. I have many articles that sold after 20-45 hits, others that sold in the 60-80 hits range. Also, if they were for a public request, you might have received hits from other authors checking to see the angle you took. Most of us are just too curious to help ourselves.

Thanks for the replies!
I usually list about 15 keywords for each article--do you think that is enough or do some people actually fill up the keyword box?

I put as many keywords as I can think of when I submit the article. Then I add more as time goes by, especially after checking out the terms customers are searching for article with (listed in the "Search Topics" tab on the Recently Sold page). Sometimes they use search terms I would never have considered. Or pop culture provides new search terms. For example, I wrote an article about Perssus and the Gorgon a year ago and recently added "Percy Jackson" and "Clash of the Titans" to my keywords because of the movies that came out. Very relevant to my article but something I wouldn't have thought of.
